Meet the Team: Hannah

We’re highlighting our business’ strongest asset: our wonderful team!

Here at the Canberra Innovation Network, we’re passionate about innovation and are here to help you make an impact and change the world. Our team is full of clever, connected and creative people and we’re excited to introduce you to our Innovation Programs Manager, Hannah Hartgers.

Explain what you do at CBRIN in 25 words or less.
I work with entrepreneurs to help them grow their business.

Tell us about what you’re working on at the moment.
I’m focusing on learning lots from the CBRIN Team and everyone in the network – this involves participating in as many workshops and events as I can! I’m also supporting the coordination of the GRIFFIN Accelerator Program; the 3-month intensive program run by a group of experienced mentors to help startups grow and be successful.

Who or what inspires you?
New ideas and ways of looking at the world inspire and motivate me. I love talking to someone or reading something that puts things in a perspective I hadn’t considered.

What’s your favourite book or podcast?
My favourite book series is the Shadowhunter Chronicles by Cassandra Clare – love a good fantasy / immersive read to escape with.

What are you most passionate about?
Helping others realise their potential through learning and support.

Also? Finding the perfect pair of boots!

If you could dis-invent one thing, what would it be and why?
Single-use plastic – there’s so much work to undo the damage that’s been done by single-use plastic, and the environment would be in such better shape if it had never been invented.

Drink of choice?
An Olsen-twin sized latte.

What do you work towards in your free time?
In my spare time I create resin art and earrings and sell them on Etsy (Handangles) / at handmade markets.

What’s the coolest innovation you’ve read or heard about lately?
Fitbits for dogs – I wish my dog could talk and that I knew what she was up to when I’m not at home; a monitoring device is the next best thing!

What’s something that never fails to make you smile?
My labrador, Zoey

What are you currently watching on Netflix?
Selling Sunset – it’s a guilty pleasure watch.

Tell us something interesting about yourself that we may not know.
I originally studied to be an English & history teacher. Teaching wasn’t for me but I still love the subject areas and working with people.

If you were a crayon, what colour would you be?
Yellow
