Innovation Showcase 2022 Pitcher Profiles: Syenta

At the Canberra Innovation Network, we couldn’t be any more proud of this community of entrepreneurs. For their achievements. For their ingenuity. For the way they’ve turned challenges into opportunities and absolutely thrived. The Innovation Showcase is our way to celebrate the hardworking innovation and startup community in Canberra, highlighting those achievements and inspiring even bigger goals for the new year.

It’s a fun and interactive afternoon, enabling the community to come together, share stories and get energised for the next year ahead.

At this year’s Innovation Showcase Canberra startups will go head-to-head in a live shark-tank style pitching competition judged live by YOU. You’ll have the opportunity to meet new people, learn about the exciting things that came out of 2022 and get a glimpse into what’s in store!

We interviewed the innovators that will be head lining the showcase this year and discussed the meaning of innovation, the future and the event!

Introducing the team from Syenta, formally Spark3D.

What are you pitching at the Innovation Showcase?

A new way of fabricating electronics using 3D printing.

If the sky is the limit, what is your ultimate goal?

Our vision is to transform and democratize the electronics industry by empowering our customers to rapidly design and construct electronic devices from anywhere in the world. With the help of our technology, our customers are rapidly fabricating and iterating in-house, building devices such as sensors, photovoltaics, PCBs, antennae as well as other undreamt technology enabled by additive manufacturing.

What has been the high of the year for you?

There are so many, honestly – raising our seed round, hiring the most amazing team, building the first product.

Clever, Connected & Creative. Which of these words do you most identify with and why?

Definitely “creative”. This journey started with me doing my PhD and not having much funding, so $200 3D printer was all I had, so I had to use a lot of creativity to make it work… and a lot of Blu Tack. Now that is one of the core values of our team, and we solve a lot of hardware, material and software challenges by being creative and critical thinkers.

What does innovation mean to you?

It means not just accepting the status quo, but imagining a better future that does not exist yet and believing in it hard enough to help create it. Most innovators are very rebellious and stubborn by nature and that helps to maintain focus through all the ups and downs.
