More Canberra businesses are set to benefit from increased ACT Government support for the Canberra Innovation Network.
The funding will not only help more Canberra businesses to recover from COVID-19 but will allow them to also innovate and create more jobs.
The $607,000 funding boost will ensure the continued growth and success of our innovation sector as we continue to deliver our recovery plan.
The following initiatives will be supported by the additional funding:
- Two COVID‑19 specific streams of the government’s flagship innovation program ‘Innovation Connect’. This will enable even more innovative Canberra start-ups to develop and advance their innovative products and services
- A series of collaborative innovation labs that bring together key stakeholders from government, industry and Canberra’s tertiary and research institutions to solve complex organisational or sector-wide challenges
- Scholarships to fully subsidise the Canberra Innovation Network’s ‘Idea to Impact’ Program for fifty entrepreneurs.
These initiatives will provide funding support to local entrepreneurs and start-ups who want to grow their innovative ideas and will enable collaboration between the ACT Government and local industry in developing initiatives to help boost the recovery of our economy.
The ACT Government already contributes $500,000 annually to the Innovation Connect program, with the additional support doubling the size of the program.
“It’s fantastic to see that the government is increasing support for innovative activities in this time. This funding is making innovation support and services available to the broader community which is so critical as innovation can contribute to how we get through the evolving crisis.” Said Petr Adamek, CEO of Canberra Innovation Network.
