Where Are They Now: Cayce Hill

"Keep the course, slow and steady. Don't give up."

We interview women in our community about innovation and what drives them to make a difference in their industries. This week we spoke to Cayce Hill, Founder and Social Entrepreneur at Funhouse Studio (Bega).

What are your big wins/challenges since we last spoke?

What a ride it’s been. Since we last spoke I’ve employed 5 casual staff – it’s been a game changer not to have to go it alone. Finding staff, GOOD STAFF – mind you, especially in a regional community, has been my greatest challenge. But I’d say my strength has also been recognising the people I can work with, and investing my time and energy into supporting them. It’s made all the difference.

What advice would you give yourself 5 years ago?

Keep the course, slow and steady. Don’t give up. Pay attention to those who invest their time and efforts into you and do the same for them. In other words, believe in yourself and what you know because you’ve already worked this part out (for the most part).

What do you want to ask your future self?

Does it get any easier? At what point does it get easier??

What are you proud of right now?

I launched the Youth Resident Artist program to help young creatives in our Shire find work. Our first commissioned animation project was completed this past week. The fact that we can offer animation services of this calibre in our region is beyond anything I could’ve dreamed!
