We interview women in our community about innovation and what drives them to make a difference in their industries. We spoke with .... a while ago, see where she is now!
Tell us about what you are working on?
At Castlepoint Systems, we’re focused on helping organisations understand, govern and take control of their information across the whole enterprise.
We do this through an Explainable AI platform that classifies and manages data in-place, without requiring migration or changing how people work. It gives organisations a clear view of what information they hold, where it sits, and how it’s being used.
The impact of that is significant. Better compliance, reduced risk, and faster, more informed decision making. But more importantly, it gives organisations the ability to act with clarity when it matters most.
Why is innovation important to you?
Innovation in our space isn’t about doing something new for the sake of it. It’s about solving problems that have real consequences. Everyone is innovating – we wanted to disrupt.
Information isn’t neutral. It can be the difference between the right decision and the wrong one, and in some cases, that carries very real human impact.
In my career, I saw seen this play out in environments like defence, where the ability to accurately identify, understand and act on information can directly affect safety outcomes. There was just too much data to control, moving too quickly, and with too many risks and rules applicable to it. Without automation and innovation, organisations like that simply can’t keep up with the scale and complexity of the data they hold.
At the same time, innovation needs to be responsible. As regulation tightens and AI becomes more embedded in decision making, there’s a growing need for transparency. Decisions need to be explainable, traceable and defensible.
So when we designed Castlepoint, that’s what we’re focused on. Full coverage and control of all the data in the enterprise, without introducing new risk. Building technology that not only works better than anything that came before, but can be understood and trusted.
What drives you to make a difference?
For me, it comes back to protecting vulnerable stakeholders.
When you’re working with organisations managing large, complex information environments, the stakes are high. Poor visibility leads to poor decisions, increased risk, and in some cases, real-world consequences for often the most disenfranchised people in the community.
What drives us at Castlepoint Systems is helping organisations move from that uncertainty to a position where they can clearly see, understand and act on their information, and act as effective stewards of some of the most sensitive national records.
It’s about giving teams the confidence to make decisions, at pace, while knowing the data behind those decisions is accurate and accountable.
Do you have any advice for getting more women into innovation and entrepreneurship?
One of the things we’re proud of at Castlepoint is the strength of our female workforce, which is around 70% of our team.
Creating opportunities is key, but so is ongoing development and support. Women bring different perspectives, challenge assumptions, and often approach problems in ways that lead to better outcomes. When men are supported to take time off for caring responsibilities, their parters also have more access to career opportunity. We support all our staff to maintain a work-life balance that fosters equity.
The focus should be on creating environments where everyone’s potential is recognised, supported with practical actions, and given room to grow.
What are you proud of right now?
We’ve had a strong start to the year, with continued expansion into the UK.
This includes our engagement with the UK Ministry of Defence, alongside additional government and financial services deployments currently underway across the region.
It’s a reflection of the demand for better information governance internationally, and the trust organisations are placing in our platform to manage that at scale.
