To celebrate International Women’s Day the Canberra Innovation Network has put together a phenomenal line-up of female voices in the business and sustainability field to lead a two-part event that aims to educate and inspire those who attend. While the event is celebrating International Women’s Day, this is an open and inclusive event.
In theme with the UN Women’s 2022 International Women’s Day theme “Gender Equality Today for a Sustainable Tomorrow”, the event will feature women with experience in sustainable innovation. Key speakers include Serina Bird, Author of The Joyful Frugalista, Mia Swainson, member of the ACT Climate Council, Ilea Buffier, founder of Evalue8 Sustainability, Sophia Hamblin-Wang, COO of Mineral Carbonation International and Claire Chesterton, co-founder of cruelty-free & vegan hair colour brand MIIROKO.
The event is taking place on Tuesday the 8th of March from 12pm-2pm and will include a panel led by Serina Bird and an interactive workshop, run by the CBRIN team. The workshop will address the International National Women’s Day theme “Break the Bias”, focusing on inclusion and equality. Attendees will participate in structured networking activities with the aim of exploring innovation and entrepreneurship from an insider point of view. The event is an opportunity to learn from leaders in entrepreneurship, sustainability, and innovation.
‘When we think of sustainability leaders, we often think of guys doing tech. But right here in Canberra, we have amazing women who are absolutely crushing it.’ says panel lead Serina Bird.
‘There are some great women minds in Canberra, and we need to celebrate them, not just on IWD but every day. This event, however, highlights a single day where we can stop and focus on the incredibly talented and innovative women of Canberra and the contribution they make to the Canberra community.’ says Sharyn Smith Chief Operating Officer at CBRIN.
The event will take place on Tuesday the 8th of March from 12-2 at The Canberra Innovation Network event space. Lunch will be provided, and tickets can be purchased online at https://cbrin.com.au/events/female-founders-international-womens-day-march/
