We interview women in our community about innovation and what drives them to make a difference in their industries. This week we spoke to Jodee Marques, Director of Holistic Health and Wellbeing. She shared some very inspiring words to other Women starting out in innovation , and about why innovation is so important in the therapeutic space.
What are you working on?
I am a Level 2 ACA Accredited Counsellor, Integrative Health Coach and Wellbeing Educator.
I work holistically, integrating science and spirituality to
educate and empower my clients to consciously claim their goals and live life with an improved sense of happiness and wellbeing.
I work in private practice, both face to face in my clinic based in Canberra and online with clients all over the world, using tools such as NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming), Hypnosis, Timeline Therapy® and EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique)
My therapeutic approach has been influenced by Jungian & Maslows Transpersonal Psychology however I work in a holistic model meaning I focus on integrating the emotional, physical & spiritual aspects of an individual.
My unique model of therapy has evolved from years of working with individuals, couples & families in my practice and leans more to life coaching style which I have found to be effective & empowering when working with clients who are seeking profound personal development.
I am passionate about educating people to uncover intergenerational blocks and patterns of behaviour that are holding them back from living their lives with passion power & purpose.
Why is innovation important to you?
In my clinic, I focus on mental health not mental illness. Long term chronic stress continues to challenge a large portion of the population and living through the last 2 years of the pandemic has unfortunately intensified things for everyone.
We need innovation in the therapeutic space, there are so many exceptional wellness modalities available but we still have work to do in removing the stigma around seeking support in our personal lives.
If someone wanted to learn to surf or to play football they would have no issue engaging a coach to teach them the skills and strategies required to excel, accessing a counsellor or life coach should be the same thing!
We aren’t really consciously “taught” how to relate, communicate effective, process emotions and resolve conflict to build intimacy yet these skills are the foundations of healthy relationships both with our selves and with others.
Taking a psychspiritual approach to healing and counselling, I recognise emotional challenges and crisis as a catalyst for deep growth and transformation, an opportunity to embrace positive changes and expanded states of consciousness (rather than things to be judged, eliminated, suppressed, or medicated away as quickly as possible.)
Holistic transformation sees challenges as opportunities for profound growth & development and includes simultaneously integrating the mind, body & spirit to consciously navigate life’s challenges and consistently transform with empowerment to lead yourself and where appropriate, others.
I am passionate about innovative therapy as I have seen the impact that this can have on an individual and the flow on effects to all areas of life.
What drives you to make a difference?
I work in partnership with my clients. I am invested in their wellbeing and I see every individual as innately capable.
I feel deeply honoured to be in a position to support people through their darkest hours, challenges and to break through limitations.
Seeing results, witnessing transformation, watching individuals thrive & relationships prosper is what drives me to make a difference.
Do you have any advice for getting more women into the innovation ecosystem?
Follow what lights you up!
As young people we often have passions or dreams of what we want to “be” when we get older. I believe that there’s something in those early callings but we get bogged down by all the “shoulds” and “cants” and instead follow the “safe path”.
We are influenced by our families, communities, friends & educational institutions to seek safety & stability which is understandable but as Bernard Shaw said “people who say it cannot be done, should not interrupt the people doing it”
2022 is thriving with innovation, technology has opened up the online world and with it endless opportunities for innovators and entrepreneurs that have a desire to serve the world in unique and impactful ways.
Shatter those glass ceilings, spend time with people who inspire & motivate you and remember the only thing truly holding you back is your perception of limitation.
What are you proud of right now?
I am moved beyond words to be launching my new online education portal Ascend Academy in 2022.
Ascend Academy is a beacon of light, shining the way for ascending souls on their journey to conscious enlightenment. An extension of my therapeutic approach, the academy offers an integrative approach to deep healing and personal growth, a roadmap to empowerment in all areas of personal wellbeing, relationships, career & parenting that can be accessed online from anywhere at any time!
Programs will include courses and group coaching opportunities to ascend unhappiness, dissatisfaction, trauma, stress, anxiety and pain in all areas of ones life.
My goal is to provide an extended range of educational resources for personal development for people at all stages of life.I am also working on sharing free therapeutic resources on my social media platforms, expanding my blog, launching my first podcast, as well as authoring my first book!
