Each Wednesday we interview women in our community about innovation and what drives them to make a difference in their industries everyday!
What are you working on?
I work with teams to improve their workplaces through the power of gamification – it’s about being more playful in our work and interactions with each other. I work as Co-Founder and Lead Gamification Designer for PentaQuest, a gamification start up that does gamification consulting and a digital gamification platform. I’m also doing my PhD in gamification, and am really excited about the future of this industry. I love helping teams achieve awesome things by thinking about work and play differently.
Why is innovation important to you?
If you’re not going forward, you’re going backwards. Innovation is absolutely necessary for building the future we want to live in. I love challenging the status quo and shaking up assumptions people have about the world. Innovation is not just a buzzword – it’s about being a creator and crafting products, services and business to serve the world.
What drives you to make a difference?
I am driven by the belief that that it’s our duty to be and do the best we can. We are so blessed to live in Australia and in this time in history. Our world is so full of possibilities and freedoms, all we have to do is take action.
Do you have any advice for getting more women into the innovation ecosystem?
It can be intimidating to try something new and go after your dreams. My advice would be to just go for it. The worst that could happen is that you learn something, and that’s a good thing. Surround yourself with people and women that support you, it’s really powerful to learn from others who have experienced what you are experiencing. And at the end of the day – this is your life, your dream. If you aren’t going to go after it, who will?
