Six collaborative workshops
The Adaptive City is a series of six collaborative workshops sponsored by the ACT Government and delivered by the Canberra Innovation Network with different partners. The main theme of all the workshops is innovation driven collaboration of key city stakeholders to position recovery and growth as we emerge from the pandemic as a city, economy and society. We explore and get inspired by stories of resilience, flexibility and growth and learn from situations where the crises (bushfires, hail, COVID-19 and associated restrictions and impacts) created unprecedented challenges as well as opportunities for new practice.
We share intelligence, experiences, views and we work together to create a shared vision for new realities across sectors of our economy and society, inspiring collective collaborative activities that leverage our strengths, innovation and ingenuity to position our city for a better and re-imagined future.
The workshops include keynotes, panels, short stories, open-ended questions inspiring facilitated work in small groups, sharing and reflections.
A lot of discussion was also on the changing nature of work (as accelerated by the pandemic) and the positives from that including increasingly #flexible work arrangements and lowering the barrier to #reskilling / changing careers – both of which can unlock massive potential in our population.
A great opportunity for SME Leaders/Founders to feel heard and collaborate to design the future for our city as a workplace destination (as well as a great place to live). The power of bringing SMEs together to work collaboratively instead of competitively so that we all win, will see us all adapting and thinking with an abundance mindset.
A great cross-section of Canberra businesses, government, and academia; people who were dedicated, enthusiastic and great listeners. New insights were gained, connections made and progress driven to solve real problems.
A great exposure to Female Founders stories, passion, challenges, grit and creativity. There is a whole community of Canberra and regional women in business development and entrepreneurism and it would be great for the ACT to lead Australia in championing and investing in their aspirations and future success.
The Female Founders Collaborative Innovation Lab is a great thought-provoker / kick-starter for women in business, particularly anyone looking to start their own or support others through the journey.
I felt like I contributed to an important and growing voice about the importance of creative arts in all facets of the ACT community and businessess. As an introvert I felt completely comfortable and inspired to participate fully.
This is an opportunity to shape the direction that Canberra will take by having your ideas heard and listening to what others are saying. It is a great way to meet people who are passionate about our city and finding ways to collaborate.
An opportunity to reflect on how the COVID era has been shaping our future, the opportunities created and how Canberra, and individual businesses, might capitalise on these.
These events bring together bright thinkers from across business, government and academia to develop innovative solutions to our city’s current challenges. It’s an opportunity to think big-picture and, with the help of high-calibre keynote speakers, consider the global trends that are relevant to Canberra.
It was fantastic to be in a room full of committed Canberrans with such diverse experience pondering the challenges of innovation and creativity. A highly stimulating and provocative session which made you realize how much untapped potential our city has and why open conversation and collaboration are the key enablers for Canberra’s competitive advantage.
