On Tuesday 19 March 2024, the Canberra Innovation Network (CBRIN) Investor Showcase connected 30 local innovative companies to local and interstate investors. The Investor Showcase enables companies and investors to meet and talk about potential investment. The event provides the initial connection that can see deals done and the growth and trajectory of Canberra businesses rapidly take off.
The event
In only its third year, the event has gathered increasing interest from local and interstate investors. This year more companies presented than ever before, each of the 30 presenting companies already having interest from some investors and seeking more.
Over 100 people attended, including local angel investors and 18 local and national venture capital funds.
Craig Davis, General Manager of the Growth Team at CBRIN, said that “the strong interest of investors reflects the great quality of innovative companies in Canberra which are creating opportunities for investors to back talented founders with global impact ambitions.”
The companies
Companies presenting were very diverse, representing sectors as different as medtech, manufacturing, AI, IT, defence, agritech, sustainable solutions and more.
Companies ranged from early startups raising $200k, to established companies raising up to $10M to scale up. Most have ambitions for global growth.
Companies report they developed valuable connections with investors, and have booked further conversations they hope may result in investment. In previous years, companies have raised tens of millions of dollars following the event.
Hannah Hartgers, Program Manager at CBRIN said “It’s so exciting to see the quality of innovations in Canberra and great to see so many investors coming along to support local companies.”
Presenting Companies
Canberra Innovation Network would like to thank Capital Angels for co-hosting the event, the companies that participated and the investors for their collaboration at the event. The combination of these parties enabled the success of the event and helps in the planning for next year.
