A 2021 send-off like no other for Canberra’s entrepreneurs

On Wednesday 1st December 2021, the Canberra Innovation Network will host its annual Showcase to celebrate the people, ideas and industries that make the capital a globally-recognised hub of innovation and creativity.

The “humanized online event” will take place on Remo’s virtual conference platform, with live judging and audience participation, a pitch competition, guest speeches and more. Expected to draw hundreds from across the ACT innovation community, CBRIN will make a cash donation based on actual attendance numbers to YWCA Canberra (from $1500 to $3k) and deliver a bespoke incubation lab and Coworking infrastructure to winners of the 2022 Country to Canberra Leadership Program cohort (valued at over $3k).

Ten companies will compete for prizes awarded by CBRIN’s Gold Partners, as well as a viewers’ choice crown. Annabel Griffin will award the “World View” prize from King & Wood; Kavin Arnasalson decides who best represents “Challenger Spirit” from Optus; Rosanne Brand knows who best “Makes a Difference” from PwC; and ActewAGL’s Todd Eagles identifies the “Future Spark”. You, the audience, award the largest cash prize in a pitch-for-your-life parade of short presentations from the Territory’s most prolific entrepreneurs. You’ll then have the chance to network with ideators, investors and fellow entrepreneurs at this most anticipated business innovation event of the year.

CBRIN CEO, Petr Adámek, says, “Always slightly different, the annual Showcase is a highly popular and energising event designed to demonstrate the essence of our vibrant innovation ecosystem. This community is full of amazing stories of entrepreneurs striving to change our world for the better through innovation and collaboration.”

“Each year Canberrans push the limits on what’s possible and venture into the unknown, creating the palpable vibrance in our city,” says the event’s emcee, Rae Knopik. “It will be a real treat to witness the boldness and brilliance of this year’s contestants!”

“I started with an idea. CBRIN gave me the tools I required to start a business. And here I am, thriving and expanding!” says Simply Lentils Founder Manjula Mishra, who will be pitching at the Showcase.

Registration is free, and every attendee increases the support leant to future young female entrepreneurs, courtesy of CBRIN. Plus the pitches and presos are sure to be excellent! See you there.
