Women In Innovation: Jordan Franklin

"Take more risks. Worst case scenario, you fail. Who cares? Do it again until you get more comfortable with risk."

We interview women in our community about innovation and what drives them to make a difference in their industries. This week we spoke to Jordan Franklin, Founder of The Happy Spender and Co-Founder of Dear Crypto.

What are you working on?

Hello! I’m Jordan, behind @the_happyspender on Tik Tok and Instagram. My co-founder, Samantha Smith and I are currently working to launch an edtech platform called Dear Crypto. Our goal is to make the web3 space less scary, less intimidating and less overwhelming. We envision 100 lessons, a thriving Discord community, NFT certification and web3 employment opportunities. As entrepreneurs in residence with Blackbird Venture Capital, we’re hoping to release part of Dear Crypto to market later this year. Follow me on social media to watch the ups and downs of turning an idea into a product.

Why is innovation important to you?

Dear Crypto is important to us because web3 lacks diversity. Currently, the majority of web3 participants are male. While the web3 space benefits from growing diversity, we can do better to welcome more people in. If the overzealous explanations of cryptocurrency aren’t quite resonating with you, we got you. Dear Crypto will empower people to learn with an open mind and explore the web3 world confidently and without fear of judgment.

What drives you to make a difference?

Dear Crypto is driven by a desire to make one impactful difference: to create the most inclusive, approachable and empowering educational community in web3.

Do you have any advice for getting more women into the innovation ecosystem?

Take more risks. Worst case scenario, you fail. Who cares? Do it again until you get more comfortable with risk. Your 20s are your Odyssey Years for a reason, so give it your best shot.

What are you proud of right now?

We are super proud of Dear Crypto’s branding. Design is an incredibly important element to any business model and says so much about who we are, beyond the product we offer.
