Tell us about what you are working on.
As a copywriter I am always in and out of other people’s businesses, helping them best describe what they do. I love learning all about what makes a person tic, and how that impacts their business – could be the counselling certificate I studied a few years back! I then pride myself in being able to translate that into words that make them shine, and bring in their ideal customers.
Why is innovation important to you?
Innovation is where we will find the solutions to the broken systems everywhere around us. Having worked for large organisations and the public services, experienced let downs in both the health and education systems, and been discriminated against on the basis of my sex, I believe the systems we have are letting us down. Innovation is where we move beyond them and into better systems and outcomes for everyone, in every part of life.
What drives you to make a difference?
My part in innovation may not be personally innovative (yet) but as my work helps my clients make a difference, I feel I am contributing to the way forward for a better society. So really, it’s my clients that drive me to improve and make a difference every day.
Do you have any advice for getting more women into innovation and entrepreneurship?
Seek support, women’s strength and power come from our ability to connect. We need to use this ability to grow and prosper. So never be afraid to take advantage of all the supports available through places like CBRIN, and women specific networking groups. The more people you meet, the more chance you have of meeting the people who will stand behind you, speak of you to their connections, and generally support your business.
What are you proud of right now?
I am super proud of my work for an ongoing client in the advocacy and coaching space. Through rethinking her website keywords, and clever choice of article topics, we have increased her number of inquiries from ideal clients. Her latest shout out was music to my ears ‘Business is booming thanks to Beth’.
